Calling all hackers

in Marin high schools
and ambitious middle schoolers

On Saturday 02 May, MVGATE and the Marin County Office of Education will bring back the Marin County Hackathon for 2020.

In this day-long celebration of design, problem-solving, and creativity, eighty young problem-solvers in one giant room will use their skills to help build a Marin that’s more resilient, safe, healthy, and sustainable.

Join county supervisors, county professionals in environmental and civil engineering, and special guests from the technology world.

Plus breakfast, lunch, and snacks, of course.

• Come in a team or come solo, just come. If you want to bring a pre-formed team, start talking with your friends and your teacher or coach. Or come solo and find collaborators here. Signup starts soon.

• Hone your skills. You’ll use whatever platform you like and you’ll choose the users and their problem to solve.

• Start thinking about users to serve and problems to solve. Will you build a simple air quality app that’s used by 10,000 Marin families? A water level analytical tool that’s used by five professionals in the county Engineering department? Something else? We’ll send suggestions and datasets.

• Not a hacker? Choose from opportunities for volunteering and helping out, too.

• Read about the last Hackathon in 2017. (County , MarinIJ) More details soon.
